IN THE MIND’S EYE.

I read her signals all wrong

I could’ve swore I was right

I went for off – she went on

And I was blind to the light.

She wanted holding real hard

And all I did was back off

I guess she grew far too tired

Of what’s an on and off love.

In the mind’s eye I saw her crying

I saw her love as it was dying.

In the mind’s eye I saw her trying…

To forget me…

To get me to the back of her mind

But all she can find is pain

And I know it’s me to blame!

She couldn’t laugh – she just cried

I know I love her real bad

But it’s too late now it’s died

And it’s what I could’ve had.

I know I’m the fool

I know I’m a mess

I know I’m the fool

Cause I couldn’t guess…

It was love

It really was love!
