RULED BY THE CLOCK.
Sleeping mouth open she wakes to the clock
Hits the freezing cold that gives her a shock
Sticks on the fire that she almost sits on
Before she knows it ten minutes have gone.
Frantically sticks on her clothes really quick
Gulps down her tea she’s got no time to think
She brushes her hair and gets her face right
Then runs out the door she’s leaving things tight.
Ruled by the clock
It’s a matter of time
She’s ruled by the clock
If she’s late it’s a crime…
She’s ruled by the clock.
Enters the office she’s two minutes late
The mirror tells her her hair is a state
She sits herself down and then spots the boss
He studies his watch and then walks across.
Every day this week you’ve been late
You don’t get a job laid out on a plate
This girl is your very last chance
Why don’t you watch the clock’s tiny hands?
The morning drags slowly watching the clock
She doodles for hours her mind takes a walk
Why does the lunch hour disappear so fast
And the afternoon seems to always last?
